The Process

Although we do cater for cosmetic repairs to Alloy wheels, minor scratches and scuffs, we would recommend a full refurbishment.
Below is a brief description of our process for a complete wheel refurbishment.

1 The tyre is removed and inspected for any damage or excessive wear. If there is a problem with the tyre we will contact the customer imediately to give them the choice of finding a replacement themselves or having us supply a replacement.

All weights, valves and decals are removed and the wheels are inspected for cracks, stress fractures, dents or buckles.

We will advise the customer of any wheels we feel are unsafe or to expensive to repair.

Tyre Removed
2 The wheels are then chemically stripped to remove all the old layers of paint, lacquer, primer and any brake dust.

They are then placed into a wash machine to remove any traces of paint and chemicals left from the stripping leaving a totally clean and contaminant free wheel.

Once we have force dried the wheels the surface is keyed to to accept the primer paints.

3 Any damage to the wheel is repaired at this stage. For more seriously damaged wheels the area will be filled with aluminium weld and finished to it's original shape and profile. Cleaned wheel ready for paint
4

Powder primer is now applied over the entire wheel providing a tough and super smooth base.

Once applied, we reheat the wheels to cure the powder primer.

Next is the colour, Wheelworx uses manufacturers colours to get the perfect match, but you don't have to stick to your manufacturer's colours at all.

If you would like a custom finish we can change the colour of your wheels to almost any colour you choose, even two tone if you want.

6

Powder Lacquer is applied as a final protective coat and the wheels are heated again to cure.

This is extremely hard wearing and protects your wheels from the elements and aids in keeping your wheels clean and dust free.

After they have cooled we refit the tyres and balance them using stick on weights on the inside of the wheel

If the vehicle is on-site the wheels are re-fitted and torqued to the correct measurement.
